How to design a home that works for you and your family.
Renovators. Are you actually being honest with yourself? One of the biggest mistakes my clients make is thinking that once they've got this new shiny house that they've paid for, they are going to become this organised, amazing person who's just got their s&!t together. You will be like that for two, three weeks, maybe four if you're lucky, and then you will go back to yourself. If you are someone who dumps their bag down as they come in the door, you're still going to be someone who dumps the bag down as they come in the door. My job as an interior designer is to work out what those things are and design them out. So if you have a busy life and you come in with loads of stuff and it always get dumped in the front, then we design the layout as such that there is joinery there to house all of that crap. If you are someone who has loads of products around your sink, we are sure as hell going to try and get you a vanity that's big enough to take all of that stuff, and preferably too. If you're in a partnership that doesn't share the love for cosmetics. My point being is if you are doing renovations, really look honestly at yourself and work out what are the things that you aren't very good at, and basically design your home to help you out with those things. Don't try and pretend that you're going to change. Hope that's giving you a little bit of realism that you need. Follow me for more design tips.
